Why Accessible Transport Matters for Theatre Participation
A Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs) can make attending or participating in community theatre groups such as Freewheelers Theatre simple and hassle-free, enabling wheelchair users to focus less on travel and more on what matters most: enjoying creative expression and building connections within their community.
For many people with mobility challenges, attending rehearsals, workshops or live performances is not always straightforward. Public transport may not be fully accessible, and sometimes relying on others for travel can limit independence.
WAVs provide a practical solution for wheelchair users and their carers. Allied Mobility WAVs are different to a standard mobility vehicle as they’re engineered and manufactured to ensure a wheelchair user can easily and safely enter the vehicle from the comfort of their wheelchair, powerchair or mobility scooter via a specially designed wheelchair ramp at the rear of the vehicle.
Allied Mobility customer, Charles Turrel has experienced the benefits of a WAV firsthand. Thanks to his WAV Charles can travel with ease and comfort to attend sessions at his local theatre group, helping him to stay involved in the community he loves.
