We had a fantastic time closing out our final mobility day of the year at Locomotion in Shildon!
Steamroll Through the Ages
Located in the world’s first railway town, Locomotion is home to a fascinating national collection of railway vehicles. Allied Mobility guests steamrolled through the ages of rail transport history. From checking out Locomotion No.1, the first locomotive to welcome the public aboard, to picking up speed with Mallard, the world’s fastest steam engine – there was plenty accessible things to see and learn at Europe’s largest undercover display of historic rail vehicles.
A Ticket to Your Perfect WAV
As well as enjoying free admission to Locomotion, an Allied Mobility Day ticket granted visitors the opportunity to see our entire range of wheelchair accessible vehicles (WAVs) in one place. From the UK’s most popular WAV, Horizon™ to our brand-new, Internal Transfer (IT) wheelchair accessible vehicle, Ford Dream™, mobility advisors at our North East show were on hand offering help, advice and vehicle demonstrations to ensure customers found the perfect WAV for them.

Receiving a warm welcome from guests was Vauxhall Venture™, our all-new medium-large mobility car, exclusively available from Allied Mobility.
Packed with accessibility features including a free electric assist-winch and an EasyGo™ lightweight ramp, Venture™, based on the Vauxhall Vivaro Life, excellently combines safety, space and comfort.

Also Joining Us for the Ride…
Joining us for the day was a range of charities and disability organisations including Euan’s Guide, DMUK and GBWR. Our sister company, Mobility Solutions, also came along with a variety of wheelchairs, powerchairs and mobility scooters.
So, after a busy afternoon trying out vehicles, mobility aids and learning about helpful charities, guests relaxed with some complimentary teas, coffees and cakes. Some even entered our annual £1,000 Prize Draw, the winner of which will be revealed later in the year, so keep your eyes peeled on our social media channels for updates!

A Rail-y Good Day!
We welcomed over 130 lovely guests to Locomotion for what was a fabulous day out for all! Guests complimented the accessibility of the venue and the knowledge of our expert mobility advisors with one guest saying, “My favourite part was being able to see the vehicles in person and the fab, friendly staff. Tea and cake were a nice touch too!”
