Allied Mobility Attend The Crushers Club Tournament

Allied Mobility experienced some thrilling action at the weekend as we attended the Crushers Cup, a wheelchair rugby tournament hosted by Glasgow Wheelchair Rugby.

The Glasgow Crushers were joined by the Penrith Pumas and Mandeville Maulers for the two-day competition, which saw players from Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby clubs battle it out for glory.

As proud sponsors of Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby, the sporting organisation that oversees wheelchair rugby across England, Scotland and Wales, Allied Mobility attended Saturday’s games, bringing along sister company, Mobility Solutions, to get a taste of the action.

We watched as wheelchair rugby players rolled at lightning speed, passing and bouncing the ball across the court in an attempt to score a try. There were hard hits, crashes and a few players knocked out of their chairs, but as the only full-contact sport at the Paralympics, it’s no surprise the weekend was filled with exciting gameplay that kept our eyes glued to the court.

What is Wheelchair Rugby?

Wheelchair rugby is an inclusive sport where men and women both compete on the same team. The game is usually played on a basketball court in a sports hall with the overall objective being to get the ball (which is not oval but round like a volleyball) over the line to score a try. A Tough Competition

The Crushers, Pumas and Maulers put on a fantastic sporting display with top-class gameplay, but with four dominant wins, it was the Penrith Pumas that secured the winning title.
