As the UK’s leading wheelchair accessible vehicle (WAV) supplier, we are dedicated to manufacturing mobility cars that are made for more – more freedom, more ease and more opportunity to explore, create memories and enjoy the places that matter most.
That’s why we are proud to support Jumbulance Trust, a charity that shares our mission of making travel accessible for all.
What is Jumbulance Trust?
Jumbulance Trust specialises in making group holidays and day trips as accessible as possible for disabled people, using their specially designed coaches, known as Jumbulances.
Jumbulances are unique, medically equipped vehicles that are part-coach and part-ambulance, designed to take disabled people comfortably across the UK and Europe.
Currently, the Trust operates two Jumbulances, both of which feature accessible lifts, an onboard accessible toilet, a small galley kitchen and space for wheelchairs and stretchers.
What’s more, on each journey, a team of experienced support volunteers are on hand to assist travellers who require additional care or specialist equipment.
Accessible Ski Trip to Niederau
The Trust has taken groups to places like Holland and France, with the most recent trip being to Niederau, in Austria, for an unforgettable week of accessible skiing.
With a mix of assisted skiers, carers and dedicated volunteers, the group enjoyed a week filled with adaptive skiing, fresh mountain air and plenty of laughter.
To help make the trip as accessible and stress-free as possible, we were excited to provide the Trust with a Peugeot Horizon™ WAV so that wheelchair users could move comfortably between the hotel, village and ski area with ease.
Reflecting on the trip, one assisted skier said, “Thank you Allied Mobility for the WAV, it let us go up the slopes and have fun! I’ve enjoyed this week, I’ll be back next year!”
The Value of Accessible Travel
Visiting new places not only broadens perspective, but it also offers personal growth, a sense of freedom and simply put, it is great fun!
Telling us about her experience in Austria, Jumbulance Trust volunteer, Sarah, said:
“I was blown away by how accommodating the Jumbulance coach was. The highlight of the trip for me was seeing the assisted skiers enjoy their time on and off the slopes. It was incredibly rewarding seeing their faces as they went down the slopes, they were all beaming with huge smiles!”
